Crawl spaces with concrete floors that are wet and damp can be a challenge to install a drainage system in. They are often low and removing concrete is extremely difficult or impossible. Concrete floors are also porous and let water vapor pass right through. The drainage matting will direct any water seepage to the sump and also ensures a healthy and effective system.
In dirt crawl spaces the drainage matting will also contribute to proper water flow to the SmartSump. It can also be added to provide a cushion under the CleanSpace, to protect the CleanSpace - and your knees - from any sharp rocks that may be in the crawl space.
